The exhibition Architectures of Cohabitation at SCHAU FENSTER pursues the idea that human and non-human beings form an inseparable community. To achieve more sustainable cities, we must also understand them as habitats for other species. Using five architectural elements - floor, interior wall, façade, windows and roof - the coexistence of human and non-human species is reimagined in, around, on and under the house. For each element, a 1:1 prototype of the cohabitation architecture will be presented in the exhibition, designed by the architects, designers and artists Animali Domestici, ChartierDalix, Veronika Kellndorfer, Natural Building Lab / TU Berlin and Zirkular, as well as with architectural projects by Eeestudio & Lys Villalba, Husos arquitecturas, Kiyoaki Takeda Architects, RMA Architects, Studio Gang and others.

At the symposium "Architectures of Cohabitation" at the Floating University, architects and artists involved in the project will discuss with other experts from the fields of animal welfare and cohabitation in order to incorporate concrete approaches into architecture and planning and to make them more ecological and inclusive. Die Ausstellung Architectures of Cohabitation im SCHAU FENSTER verfolgt die Idee, dass menschliche und nichtmenschliche Lebewesen eine untrennbare Gemeinschaft bilden. Um zu nachhaltigeren Städten zu kommen, müssen wir sie auch als Lebensraum für andere Spezies verstehen. Anhand von fünf architektonischen Elementen – Boden, Innenwand, Fassade, Fenster und Dach – wird das Zusammenleben von Menschen und nicht-menschlichen Spezies im, ums, auf und unter dem Haus neu gedacht.
