DE PASSAGE | Window for an underpass, Munich 2002
In the part of the underpass that is lit from above, three slabs of the stone cladding have been removed and replaced with a glass panel on which the motif of the work “Points de Vue” has been printed. The glass, showing a
window with shadows of grid structures projected on to a curtain is inserted directly into the stone-cladding of the underpass. This intervention into the architectural grid pattern refers to the rhythm of the stone cladding, but also
plays with the relationship between the interior and the imaginary exterior, puzzling the viewer and turning the functional walk through the underpass into a rite of passage.

Im von oben beleuchteten Bereich der Fußgänger Unterführung am Haus der Kunst werden drei Natursteinplatten durch eine Glastafel ausgetauscht, auf die das Motiv der Arbeit „Points de Vue“ gedruckt ist.
Das Glas, das ein Fenster mit dem Schattenwurf eines Gitters auf einen Vorhang zeigt, wird direkt in die Natursteinverkleidung der Unterführung eingesetzt.
Der Eingriff in das architektonische Raster spielt mit dem Rhythmus der Steinverkleidung und mit dem Verhältnis von Innen und einem imaginären Außen. Er irritiert den Betrachter und macht die funktionale Durchquerung der
Unterführung zu einer Passage.
